Frequent Flyer Card is a reward scheme designed for those who travel a lot and wish to achieve savings. If you make a lot of credit card transactions for personal or business purposes, you can apply for a frequent flyer scheme and start collecting airmiles.
For every purchase transaction you get a cashback bonus (usually around 5%) that can be used for air miles, hotels or even renting a car. The more purchases you make with your credit card(s) the more money back you get to spend on travel.
Another option is that for every purchase made by a credit card you are awarded points. These points can be then redeemed for flights on selected airlines. Usually the award for every dollar spent is 1 point but some banks offer double miles or extra points for certain types of purchases (as shopping in particular brands of supermarkets or gas stations).
Some frequent flyer card issuers offer extra services, as for example: priority check-in, extra checked baggage allowance, advance seat selection and priority boarding on selected airlines or domestic and overseas travel insurance.
Frequent Flyers credit cards can often provide bonus points on sign up, keep an eye out for these as they can be a great quick way to build up your points.
Before joining the scheme, you should check if you can use the points earned for the airline of your choice. Another important thing to remember is to pay off the balance every month; otherwise the interest payable will detract from your rewards and perks.
